The objective of this assignment was to make an opening credits sequence based off of a known work of literature. The work I chose was The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman.
The Yellow Wallpaper is about a woman with post-partum depression that is prescribed the “rest cure” by her doctor husband. The “rest cure” consists of social isolation in her bedroom as well as limited mental and physical activity. The isolation leads her to slowly become obsessed with her room’s ugly yellow wallpaper. The story follows her hidden journal entries as she loses her grip on reality, exploring themes of mental health and conformity.
